Today we’ll learn about message writing. First of all let’s understand the definition of the message. A message is a very short composition written in an informal way. It is used for conveying important information to another person when both are unable to meet directly. The receiver of the message has to go through the given message and pick out the most vital bits of information then he or she should be able to reproduce that information in order to convey it to the person for whom the message is intended.   • Date time

  • Body of the message
  • Name of the Sender

Points to remember While Writing a Message

  • One of the most important point is that only important to the point details should be written. Only relevant information to be provided
  • No new information should be added. Sentence should be grammatically correct.

  • Sentences should be used in direct or reported speech.
  • Keep word limit in mind while writing the message. As we all know usually word limit for a message is 50 words only
  • As per the marking scheme , Writing date and time carries 1 mark, name of the person to whom message is marked and the name of the writer along with content and language carries 3 marks.
  • Sender’s name has to be put at the end of the message
  • The name of the person for whom the message is written has to be given.

Read the following telephonic conversation between Nidhi and Pulkit. Nidhi wants Pulkit to convey message to Madhu that her interview was postponed by one day and she needs to bring necessary documents along with her. Pulkit leaves a message for Madhu. Write the message in about 50 words.

Nidhi Sharma : Hello! Is it 20xxxx10?
Pulkit : Yes. May I know who is calling?
Nidhi Sharma : This is Nidhi Sharma. Can I speak to Madhu?
Pulkit : No, she has gone to the library.
Nidhi Sharma : Please tell her that her interview scheduled today at 12:30 p.m., for job at BSNL office, has been postponed by one day. Now it will be held tomorrow at 11.00 a.m. sharp at the same place. She should reach BSNL office in time and also bring her original certificate along with two sets of photocopies. Don’t forget. Sonam : I am sorry. She is not at home.
Manav : Why didn’t she come to school today?
Sonam : She has gone to attend a marriage with her mother.
